Inspiration
The increasing environmental and economic impact of plastic waste and food waste inspired us to develop BioSensePack. With millions of tons of plastic polluting our oceans and vast amounts of edible food being discarded due to undetected spoilage, we saw an urgent need for a smarter, more sustainable solution. By combining biodegradable materials with real-time food freshness detection, our innovation aims to reduce waste, enhance food safety, and promote a circular economy.
What it does
BioSensePack is an intelligent, biodegradable food packaging solution equipped with nanomaterial-based biosensors. This packaging features a colorimetric indicator that changes color based on food freshness—green for fresh, yellow as a caution, and red for spoiled. By providing real-time visual feedback, BioSensePack empowers consumers to make informed decisions, reducing unnecessary food waste while ensuring food safety. Additionally, the packaging is made from eco-friendly biopolymers, naturally decomposing without harming the environment.
