BioPath Optimizer uses Ant Colony Optimization## — inspired by how real ants find

the shortest path to food through pheromone trails — to minimize fuel consumption in delivery route networks.

RESULTS: On a 10-city delivery network, BioPath's C++ ACO engine found a route 25% more fuel-efficient than a standard greedy algorithm. Scaled to a real logistics fleet of 100 vehicles (50,000 km/year each), this improvement eliminates ~375,000 liters of fuel and ~1,000 tons of CO₂ annually.

HOW IT WORKS: Each "ant" constructs a delivery route using roulette-wheel probabilistic selection weighted by pheromone strength and distance. After every generation, pheromones evaporate (preventing stagnation) and are reinforced on better routes. Over 150 generations of 30 ants, the colony converges on near-optimal routing.

Time complexity: O(t·m·n²) vs brute force O(n!) — handles 50+ cities in under 1 second.
