We've worked with students and teachers using VR headsets to aid in learning. However there were many challenges.

Students did not have enough time to familiarize themselves with the XR controllers, and teachers were not in the virtual space with the students and were unable to instruct them.

Bionauts is an educational XR experience. Teachers accompany students as they shrink down in size to learn about the various processes in the human body.

We built it using the Meta Presence Platform in Unity. We used several elements, namely; remote copresence, synthetic hands, pass through, projected pass through and interactable objects.

We wanted to implement local co-presence but was advised it would be too challenging to do so within the constraints of the Hackathon.

We have built several educational VR experiences for schools and they have responded enthusiastically. This Hackathon experience allowed us to iterate a prototype that we believe will be the next better version of our current apps.

We have gotten more familiarity with the Meta Presence Platform building blocks and have also learned more about the capabilities and limitations of the current technology.

We're planning to further the content and interactions to make it a more complete demo to show to educational institutions.
