Inspiration
The inspiration for BioGuard came from the need to address health security challenges in public and indoor environments. We saw the importance of having technological tools that can provide early detection of potential viral risks and enable people to make informed decisions about their safety.
What it does
BioGuard es un sistema de detección de riesgos virales en tiempo real que utiliza una red de sensores IoT para monitorear la calidad del aire y detectar la presencia de partículas virales en el ambiente. Los datos recopilados son procesados por un algoritmo de análisis de datos y visualizados en una aplicación web intuitiva. Los usuarios pueden recibir alertas sobre posibles riesgos virales en sus ubicaciones y tomar las medidas necesarias para proteger su salud.
How we built it
We started designing and contructing a IoT sensors network using programmable microcontrollers and air quality sensors. Then, we developed an algorithm of the data analysis to interpret the data collected and detected the presence of viral particles. Lastly, we created a web app using technologies such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, React, Bootstrap and Reduz to visualize the data in real time and to be able to alert the users.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges has been calibrating with precision the sensors and designing their hardware, that guaranteed to maximized its reliability of the data collected. Furthermore, optimizing the performance of the IoT network and developing an affective data analysis algorithm were processes that required careful attention. In addition, we also encountered challenges related to the integration of the web application with the sensor network and the visualization of data in real time
Acomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of having developed an IoT system by integrating sensors that were able to detect viral charge and analyze the viral risks in real time, being able to provide an additional layer to the protection of public places. In addition, we are satisfied with the minimalism and accesibility of our web application that allows users to recieve alerts and take fast preventive measures. We also, the cinematic developed in 3D also allowed us to have a realistic perception of the BioGuard app in real life.
What we learned
During the developing process, we learned about the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration and resolution of problems as a team. We also gained technical abilities in areas such as programming of microcontrollers, data analysis, creation of IoT networks, design and creation of 3D models and development of web applications.
What is next for BioGuard
En el futuro, planeamos mejorar y expandir BioGuard mediante la incorporación de más sensores y la integración de tecnologías avanzadas, como inteligencia artificial y aprendizaje automático, para mejorar la precisión y la eficacia de la detección de riesgos virales. Además, estamos interesados en explorar oportunidades de colaboración con autoridades de salud pública y empresas privadas para implementar BioGuard en entornos más amplios y contribuir tanto a en la seguridad sanitaria como en cualquier entorno publico en cerrado a nivel global.
