Inspiration
Your body constantly gives you signals about how ready you are to train — sleep, heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, activity, and other health measurements.
But those signals are often separated across different screens and apps. Meanwhile, many training apps focus mainly on the workout itself rather than asking whether today is the right day to push harder or ease off.
BioFIT Intelligence was built around a simple idea:
Train with your body, not against it.
We wanted to create a fitness experience that connects recovery, health data, training, and long-term progress while keeping the experience simple.
No account. No ads. Nothing to set up but your goal.
What it does
BioFIT Intelligence is an iPhone fitness and wellbeing app that combines recovery insights, adaptive training, health measurements, and progress tracking.
TODAY
BioFIT creates a daily recovery score using sleep, heart-rate variability, and resting heart rate.
Instead of showing only a number, BioFIT explains what contributed to the score, helping users understand what raised it and what pulled it down.
Steps, distance, and activity streak information are also available alongside the recovery score.
TRAINING
Users can build a four-week training plan based on:
- Goal
- Experience level
- Available equipment
- Training days
The training plan can adapt to the user's recovery.
Users can also flag a joint, allowing BioFIT to replace exercises that load that area with alternative movements designed to spare it.
During workouts, users can track sets, rest, and timing, with optional form guidance.
Plans can be rebuilt whenever the user's goal changes.
HEALTH LAB
Health Lab brings relevant health measurements together using Apple Health.
Users can view:
- Blood pressure
- Blood oxygen
- Resting heart rate
- Breathing disturbances
- AFib history
- Glucose
Users can also manually log and classify blood pressure, with those entries saved back to Apple Health.
PROGRESS
BioFIT helps users understand how their body and training change over time.
Progress features include:
- Recovery trends
- Body composition
- FFMI
- Biometrics at a glance
- Personal records
- Completed sessions
- Manual weigh-ins
The goal is to show more than individual workouts and help users see the bigger picture of their training.
A STEADY HABIT, NOT A STREAK YOU DREAD
BioFIT includes an optional 8:00 AM reminder to let users know their recovery score is ready.
If a user misses a workout, the app doesn't punish them. Instead, BioFIT continues to use available recovery information to help guide the next training decision.
Consistency is the point — not perfection.
AI, ONLY IF YOU WANT IT
BioFIT can optionally use Google Gemini for:
- Daily briefs
- Weekly training reviews
- Personalized workout plans
When AI is enabled, BioFIT sends summarized health figures rather than the user's name, dates, or raw health records.
When AI is turned off, BioFIT continues to provide health analysis and can build workout plans directly on the iPhone.
BIOFIT PRO
BioFIT Pro adds additional tools, including:
- 30- and 90-day recovery trends
- Weekly training review
- Shareable Deep Scan report
- Unlimited AI training plans
- Strip and kit log for at-home test results
BioFIT Pro is available through monthly and annual auto-renewing subscriptions with a 7-day free trial.
How we built it
BioFIT was built as a native-first iPhone health and fitness experience, with Apple Health serving as the foundation for health and activity data.
The experience is organized around four core areas:
- Today — understand today's recovery
- Training — build and adapt a training plan
- Health Lab — bring health measurements together
- Progress — understand long-term changes
The app reads the health information required for its features from Apple Health and combines it with the user's goals, experience, equipment, training schedule, and workout history.
For optional AI functionality, we integrated Google Gemini to generate personalized briefs, reviews, and training plans from selected summary information.
RevenueCat powers the BioFIT Pro subscription experience, including subscription entitlement management and the monthly and annual purchase options.
Privacy was a core consideration throughout development. BioFIT requires no account and contains no advertising or tracking. Health data remains within Apple Health and on the user's device, while only selected summary information is sent to Gemini when the user explicitly enables AI features.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was turning a large amount of health data into information that people can actually use.
A recovery score by itself isn't particularly helpful. We wanted users to understand why their recovery changed and how that information could influence their training.
Another challenge was creating adaptive training without making the experience feel unpredictable. A good training plan needs structure, but it also needs to respond to changes in recovery and the user's circumstances.
Apple Health also provides many different types of health and activity information. We had to determine which measurements were useful for each feature and present them without overwhelming the user.
We also had to carefully design the optional AI architecture. Health information is sensitive, so we wanted AI to add value without making it necessary to send raw health records or personal identifiers to an external service.
Finally, integrating subscriptions while keeping the core experience useful for free users required careful separation between essential fitness functionality and Pro features.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud to have connected recovery, training, health, and progress into one focused experience.
Some of the things we're particularly proud of:
- Daily recovery scoring with contributing-factor explanations
- Apple Health integration
- Adaptive four-week training plans
- Recovery-aware training adjustments
- Joint-aware exercise alternatives
- Workout tracking for sets, rest, and timing
- Health Lab with multiple biometric measurements
- Blood-pressure logging back to Apple Health
- Long-term recovery and progress trends
- Optional Gemini-powered AI
- On-device functionality when AI is disabled
- No account required
- No advertising or tracking
- RevenueCat-powered Pro subscriptions
Most importantly, we shipped BioFIT Intelligence to the App Store as a real product rather than keeping it as a prototype.
What we learned
We learned that personalization isn't simply about collecting more data.
The real value comes from turning the right data into understandable context and useful decisions.
We also learned that recovery and training work best as a feedback loop. A four-week plan shouldn't be completely disconnected from how someone is recovering today.
Building around Apple Health taught us the importance of working with the user's existing health ecosystem instead of trying to replace it.
We also learned that AI doesn't need to be the entire product to be valuable. BioFIT keeps its core experience available without AI, while using Gemini where it can provide additional personalization and explanation.
On the monetization side, integrating RevenueCat showed us how subscription management can be separated from the core product experience, allowing us to focus on the user experience while keeping entitlement and purchase logic manageable.
What's next for BioFIT Intelligence
BioFIT's next stage is about making the connection between what your body is telling you and what you should do next even more useful.
We're continuing to improve:
- Adaptive training recommendations
- Recovery insights and trends
- Weekly training analysis
- Workout personalization
- Exercise guidance
- AI-powered coaching
- Long-term progress analysis
- Health and fitness integrations
- Reports and progress visualization
Our long-term vision is to make BioFIT a personal training intelligence layer that helps users understand their body's signals and use those signals to build consistent, sustainable training habits.
Understand your recovery. Adapt your training. Build your progress.
