Inspiration The rapid decline in biodiversity and increasing deforestation worldwide inspired us to analyze the impact of forest loss on species extinction. By visualizing the data, we aim to raise awareness about the urgency of conservation efforts.
What it does This dashboard provides insights into biodiversity status, deforestation trends, and their correlation. Users can explore different countries, filter species, and compare forest loss with endangered species statistics.
How we built it Data Sources: Kaggle datasets on global biodiversity and deforestation. Data Processing: Cleaned and merged datasets using Pandas in Python. Visualization: Built interactive charts using Streamlit and Matplotlib. Deployment: Streamlit web app for easy access and user interaction.
Challenges we ran into Dealing with missing or outdated data. Merging datasets while maintaining accuracy. Finding the best visualizations to represent the relationships clearly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of Successfully built a functional and interactive dashboard. Provided meaningful insights that highlight the severity of deforestation on biodiversity. Implemented filtering options to allow users to explore specific regions and species.
What we learned How to preprocess and merge multiple datasets for analysis. Effective ways to visualize environmental data. The strong link between deforestation and biodiversity loss.
What's next for Biodiversity and Deforestation Adding real-time data updates from environmental organizations. Improving species classification and conservation status visualization. Expanding the dashboard with predictive models for deforestation impact.
