Inspiration

The rising cost of fuel, especially diesel, has become a major burden for everyday people in countries like Pakistan. Public transport, delivery systems, and agriculture all depend heavily on diesel, making economic stability directly linked to fuel prices. At the same time, massive amounts of waste—like used cooking oil and organic materials—are discarded daily without being utilized.

We were inspired to solve two critical problems at once:

Expensive and imported fuel Unmanaged waste pollution

BioDieselX was born from the idea: 👉 “What if waste could power our vehicles?”

What it does

BioDieselX is an AI-powered platform that enables the production, management, and distribution of low-cost biodiesel for vehicles like cars, buses, and trucks.

It allows:

Conversion of waste (used oil, fats) into biodiesel Smart fuel blend recommendations (B20, B50, B100) Real-time fuel cost comparison with diesel A marketplace to connect fuel producers and users

👉 The system makes biodiesel accessible, affordable, and scalable for public transport

How we built it

Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap Clean, responsive dashboard UI 🧠 Backend: Node.js / Flask (for logic and APIs) Firebase / MongoDB (data storage) 📊 Features Implemented: Fuel production calculator AI-based prediction (simulated model) Cost comparison dashboard Waste supplier registration system Fuel availability tracking 🔬 Hardware Concept:

We integrated the concept of a micro biodiesel reactor using the transesterification process to convert waste oil into usable diesel fuel

Challenges we ran into

Understanding real-world biodiesel production chemistry Designing a system that works for both technical and non-technical users Simulating AI predictions without a large dataset Making the idea practical and scalable, not just theoretical Balancing between hardware concept and software implementation

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Created a real-world applicable solution, not just an idea Designed a system that works with existing diesel engines Combined AI + sustainability + transport into one platform Built a complete working prototype UI Developed a concept that can reduce fuel costs significantly

What we learned

How biodiesel can be produced from everyday waste The importance of sustainable energy solutions Building user-centered platforms for real-world problems Integrating AI concepts into practical applications Thinking beyond software—towards impact-driven innovation

What's next for BioDieselX

Build a real working biodiesel prototype machine Integrate IoT sensors for real-time production tracking Train a real AI model using actual fuel data Partner with: Restaurants (for waste collection) Transport companies (for fuel usage) Launch pilot projects in local cities and rural areas
