Bio-Racers pt. 2

Inspiration

We wanted to create a high-stakes scavenger hunt where strategy matters as much as abilities. Four tokens hidden in a vast rainforest, six racers competing, and decisions about how to approach the challenge.

What it does

Bio-Racers pt. 2 drops six remaining racers into a massive rainforest hunting ground with four survival tokens hidden throughout. Only racers who return with tokens advance to the finals. Through voice commands, you use platypus abilities like Electroreception Scan to detect hidden objects and Burrow Dig to uncover buried tokens. Lightning strikes periodically reveal all racer positions, creating moments of tactical decision-making about routes and risks.

How we built it

Using ElevenLabs voice agents, we created goat commentators who announce when racers finish and a unique voice for the bat that offers to work together... to go along with narrator/POV character voice and Bubble AI that launches the simulation each time. The AI adapts to player strategies and ability usage while tracking the evolving race situation. Voice interaction makes split-second tactical choices feel immediate as pressure builds.

Challenges we ran into

Creating a search space that feels genuinely vast and complex. The rainforest needed vertical layers from ground to canopy with countless potential hiding spots, making token discovery feel earned rather than scripted while maintaining forward momentum.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a race format that's fundamentally different from Part 1's linear track. The open hunting ground creates uncertainty about other racers' progress and forces constant strategic evaluation as the situation evolves.

What we learned

Scavenger hunt formats create natural tension through uncertainty. Not knowing where tokens are or how close other racers are to finishing makes every decision feel weighted with consequence.

What's next for Bio-Racers pt. 2

Part 2 is the second of four races. Players who successfully secure tokens and return to the arena advance to Part 3, where the semi-finals bring four racers face-to-face in the penultimate competition.
