Inspiration## 💡 Inspiration
Every day, millions of households throw away valuable organic materials like eggshells, chicken bones, and coffee grounds. We were inspired to solve this by creating a circular economy model that turns kitchen waste into a high-value, eco-friendly organic fertilizer, reducing landfill waste while nourishing plants naturally.
🛠️️ How We Built It
- Collection & Sorting: Gathering clean eggshells, chicken bones, and roasted coffee grounds from kitchens.
- Processing & Sterilization:
- Eggshells are washed, dried, and ground into a fine calcium-rich powder.
- Chicken bones are sterilized, dried, and pulverized into a rich source of phosphorus and calcium.
- Coffee grounds are dried and roasted to balance acidity and retain nitrogen.
- Blending: Mixing these components in precise ratios to formulate a balanced, nutrient-rich organic soil amendment.
🧗 Challenges We Faced
- Processing Chicken Bones: Hard bones require specific high-temperature sterilization and heavy-duty grinding equipment to turn into usable powder.
- Nutrient Balancing: Finding the exact chemical balance between the acidity of coffee grounds and the basicity (calcium carbonate) of eggshells to ensure it suits most plants.
🌱 What We Learned
We learned the true power of a circular economy and how everyday household waste can become a sustainable solution for modern agriculture and soil regeneration.
