Inspiration
Carrying multiple binders every day was heavy and messy. I wanted a digital solution that would let me and other students organize, review, and annotate handouts easily, without worrying about forgetting them at home. I also noticed students today prefer listening to notes on the go, which inspired the AI podcast feature.
What it does
Bindy allows me to: Upload handouts via camera or gallery Browse them like an eBook Annotate notes and save them individually Add blank or college-ruled pages Convert notes into podcasts using AI for on-the-go review Everything is designed to help students focus and study efficiently
How we built it
I built Bindy using Bolt.new, which allowed me to create the app even though I don’t know how to code. I used cloud storage for handouts, integrated text extraction to read notes, and connected ElevenLabs API to generate podcasts. I also designed the interface to be simple and intuitive for high school students
Challenges we ran into
Limited time to implement all features, Managing smooth AI podcast generation while keeping the app fast, Designing a system that balances flexibility for personal notes with easy navigation for users
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a fully functional digital binder that supports annotations, Successfully integrated AI-powered podcast generation, Designed the app from a student perspective, addressing real pain points other apps overlook
What we learned
I learned how to combine design and functionality even without coding skills, I learned about AI integration, image-to-text extraction, and user experience design, I realized the importance of understanding real user needs and iterating based on feedback
What's next for Untitled
Add study mode to block distractions and include a timer, Enhance audio playback with playlists, repeat, and sleep timer, Allow students to publish binders, share with others, and eventually make the app community-driven and open-source
