Inspiration
The project is inspired by the idea of stream of consciousness translated into visual form — a flowing sequence of images that unfold in a single, uninterrupted movement. The goal was to capture a dreamlike perception of reality, where thoughts drift and transform just like a small boat carried by the current.
What it does
The short film follows the journey of a tiny boat traveling from a city to the open sea, eventually passing through the stomach of a whale — all presented as if it were a continuous one-shot sequence. The narrative embraces fluidity, surreal transitions, and the sensation of drifting through unpredictable worlds.
How we built it
Midjourney for generating both images and video segments Careful narrative direction to stitch the scenes into a seamless, flowing visual movement The process focused on maintaining a unified visual identity across transitions.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was preserving the consistency of the boat character across frames, ensuring it remained recognizable as it moved through dramatically different environments.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Winner at the NYC GenArt Hackathon — Hailuo, Oink (Best Narrative)
What we learned
The project reinforces the idea that nothing is as it seems — everything is subject to change, transformed by the events that carry us forward. It taught me to embrace unpredictability while still grounding the story in a coherent visual thread.
