Inspiration
Today’s accounting departments are faced with multiple challenges, including long invoice processing time, difficulties managing large data volumes, and high associated costs. For some invoices with 15-20 products per invoice, it takes up to 30 minutes to process the field manually and add them in an ERP.
What it does
Billheap.com is a web platform for extracting and validating the data from invoices and offers an API that can be integrated with clients ERM. The system improves over time and the accuracy is increasing.
How it works: Upload invoice(email attachment, scan, photo, pdf) Automatic data extraction Data Validation Receive your data/system integration The system learns the new template
How we built it
Billheap.com is a web platform build using flask and MongoDB, offers an API and Swagger documentation for fast integration. The learning component is build using machine learning algorithms in order to recognize the text from images, recognize the name entities, recognize the table, classify the column type, classify the first row in the table.
Challenges we ran into
Building a machine learning platform requires a large amount of data, our system can learn from each new processed invoice, and the user must correct the first invoice of each type, we can build a deep learning model, that will be able to recognize even unseen templates, in order to achieve that we will need around 700 invoices.
The second challenge is the integration with ERP systems. This type of integration usually takes a lot of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We already implemented different ERP systems from Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
What we learned
We learned about price and established a better package for using our service.
What's next for BillHeap
The next for BillHeap is testing and develop the alpha phase in the next 3 months, Official go to market and advertising we are planning starting with September launching in Romania and Moldova. The next we plan to extend our service is to extend to Ukraine, Russia, or Africa.
