Inspiration
Sharing expenses with friends, roommates, or groups can quickly become confusing. Calculating who owes what, keeping track of payments, and making sure everyone pays their fair share can turn a simple outing into an unnecessary headache.
We wanted to make splitting bills simpler, faster, and more transparent, so everyone can focus on the experience rather than the calculations.
What It Does
Bill Splitter helps users divide shared expenses among a group of people and understand how much each person owes. Instead of relying on manual calculations or confusing group chats, users can organize expenses and make the process of settling up easier.
Our goal is to make managing shared costs straightforward, fair, and accessible.
How We Built It
We built Bill Splitter with a focus on simplicity and usability. The project centers on making it easy for users to enter expenses, split costs among participants, and see each person's share clearly.
We focused on creating an intuitive interface and a practical experience that addresses a common everyday problem. The project also gave us an opportunity to explore how thoughtful design and software development can work together to solve real-world challenges.
Challenges We Faced
One of the main challenges was making the expense-splitting process simple without losing clarity or accuracy. We wanted the application to be easy to understand while ensuring that the calculations and results made sense to users.
Another challenge was balancing functionality with a clean user experience. We learned the importance of prioritizing the core problem, testing the application, and refining the interface so users can complete tasks without unnecessary friction.
What We Learned
Building Bill Splitter reinforced the importance of starting with a real problem and designing around the people experiencing it. We learned to think beyond simply making an application work and consider how users interact with it, understand its results, and benefit from its features.
Most importantly, this project reminded us that even small, everyday frustrations can inspire useful software solutions.
What's Next
We hope to continue improving Bill Splitter by expanding its expense-management capabilities, making group payments easier to track, and introducing features that make sharing expenses even more convenient.
