Inspiration
After many months in the pandemic, one particular idea that was consistent throughout restaurants was the use of QR codes in accessing menus. We saw potential in this and we took it a step further. We decided to incorporate this technology within bill payments.
What it does
Our app Bill Split provides our customers the ease of splitting money among themselves. We currently support three different use cases, a per item basis, a per person basis, and a way for one person to entirely cover the party.
How we built it
The main technology we used in building this mobile application was React Native. Our development process combined the two worlds of finance and software engineer. By leveraging the insight of a finance analysis and the technical skills of a SWE, we were able to produce an application that could possibly change the dynamic in the way we interact with paperless payment.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the challenges we ran into was our lack of experience with mobile development.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're most proud of deep linking part of our application using QR codes. We found it fascinating as it provided us insights on how companies were able to connect with their clientele better.
What we learned
One main thing we learned was that, in face of challenge, we should keep a level head and not let your emotions get ahead of you. It is much better to do little things at a time for rather than rush everything for the sake of producing more.
