How we built it We used React, FastAPI, the Congress.gov API for live bill data, and Claude Sonnet to generate personalized analysis for every user.
Challenges we ran into Bills can be hundreds of pages long so we had to find smart ways to compress and prioritize the most important text before sending it to Claude.
Accomplishments that we're proud of We built a fully working personalized policy analysis tool on live legislation in 90 minutes.
What we learned People are not disengaged from democracy because they don't care, they are disengaged because they don't understand what is being decided on their behalf.
