We all hear conflicting information about food

Are carbs good or bad for you?

Is a juice fast healthy or harmful?

Will eating a lot of fat help me lose weight?

Everyone could answer these questions if they knew the science behind nutrition! But that science is full of diagrams, chemicals, and long processes. So I built a game that breaks down all that info into bite sized pieces.

You play as a pill who is swallowed and has to travel through the body. You are guided by Bill the Pill, who has been through the digestive tract a couple of times. He tells you how to move through the body, break down food, and educates you on the way.

There is a standard path of mouth, stomach, large, and small intestine... but there could be detours along the way. There are so many different types of nutrients, chemical cycles, and systems. A future possibility is learning how the lymphatic system works, or how the circulatory system ties into digestion. How about where your food energy is stored? (Hint: more than one place!) Or how your breakfast becomes fuel for your day?

When you become a small pill you dive into a huge world of biology.

I built this project with Unity, a loaned HP workstation, and support from Microsoft Mixed Reality. I want to thank all of the sponsors of this event, especially Microsoft for sending awesome developers to get everyone up and running with the Mixed Reality SDK. All the assets I used are in the public domain.

Hopefully I can continue working on this, I feel as though everyone benefits from learning about nutrition (since everyone eats,) and I would love to continue building a fun and useful learning tool.
