Inspiration
Our group was inspired by the enthusiasm of the many friends we have made through the semesters as 1st year students. This was mainly possible because of biking.
What it does
As we planned more trips around Chicago, the bigger our community grew as we explored familiar and new areas around our beautiful city.
How we built it
As we gathered our ideas on the board, everything came together perfectly as we started to code. Through Android Studio, we divided our roles as designers, creating algorithms and figuring out ways we can incorporate new ways of connecting.
Challenges we ran into
As programmers, our main issue that proved to be difficult was connecting our ideas as one and also fighting the urge for sleep. Even so, our team persevered and created something amazing.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of the commitment we achieved through this project. As programmers with little to no knowledge of using Android Studio, we adapted to the language efficiently.
What we learned
As individuals, we learned the feeling of working with others for long periods. Understanding everyone's roles and how to manage our time most efficiently is very important when it comes to real work situations. We are very grateful to have been able to join our first hackathon and achieve so much.
What's next for BikeUp!
Later in the future, we hope to use the app to help track our goals for our Bike club. We hope to continue to create a bigger community through connections and the use of our app.
