Making bikeshare availability easier to understand.

Empty stations leave riders without bikes; full stations leave them without parking. DockWatch helps operators identify these service gaps and prioritize inventory adjustments.

What it does

An interactive dashboard combines station maps, inventory alerts, and historical control charts. Two synthetic datasets demonstrate normal operations and disruptions across 20 fictional stations around Ithaca.

How we built it

We used React for the interface and Python/FastAPI for the statistical analysis, with deployment on Posit Connect. Automated tests verify calculations, data validation, and interface behavior.

What we learned

We learned how to turn a broad challenge into a focused tool that addresses a clear user need. The experience reinforced the importance of teamwork, setting priorities, and keeping practical decisions at the center of our design.
