Inspiration
Having seen how popular biking is around UC Santa Cruz, we wanted to try and stretch the cycling community's reach out towards downtown Santa Cruz. In its simplest form, BikeAssistant aims to make biking easier and more accessible to the general public through routing tools.
What it does
BikeAssistant helps bikers by plotting out paths using Google Maps API. The app allows the user to customize your own route, look at other local routes, and share your favorite bike paths with friends.
How we built it
We used java and android studio to develop the android application. We also used google apis to have a map and routing system available to us. For the website we used HTML5, Javascript, and CSS3.
Challenges we ran into
Learning the Android Studio as well as integrating APIs for Google Maps.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Pushing out our first app.
What we learned
The Android language.
What's next for BikeAssistant
Sharing routes with other users.
