Inspiration
Winter is a hard time to be cycling. It can be difficult to decide whether you should or shouldn't, so I made this app to help do that.
What it does
It uses the geolocation API
How we built it
Using HTML, CSS and vanilla JS.
Challenges we ran into
Time-management was difficult because I had quite a busy weekend (new year) and had a lot to do apart from this hackathon. I also didn't have teammates to work with because I didn't want to be a burden to a team due to my on-and-off availability. Ultimately, I didn't give myself enough time to make a video because of poor planning and wasted time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I managed to save the project with 1 hour remaining after I thought I'd lost myself completely in trying to make an unnecessary functionality.
What we learned
I learned how to use the OpenWeatherMap and geolocation APIs
What's next for Bikeable
I could add a setup page that allows the user to set their own temperature thresholds for personalised decisions on whether to cycle or not, as well as advice on how much clothing to wear.
