Inspiration

After buying a new bike, I was eager to find the best routes through the city and biking trails near me. I wanted to build an app that would help to guide users to fun routes near them as well as let them track their progress and compare themselves to others.

What it does

The bike delivery game lets users find routes near them. Once near a delivery route start marker on the map, the user can start the delivery and the app will display the time and distance duration of their ride so far. Once the player reaches the delivery end marker for that route, they can complete the delivery.

How we built it

I build this app using the Unity game engine as well as the MapBox SDK for Unity.

Challenges we ran into

I own a windows desktop and an iPhone, which made it difficult to get the application on my phone for testing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of being able to make my first location based game. This application gives the user different options based on their physical location and lets them explore a map of the real world around them with custom game markers.

What we learned

I learned how to use the MapBox SDK for Unity and how to get location services information into a Unity game.

What's next for Bike Delivery Game

I would like to enhance the backstory of the game and add the option to "battle cars" with location based mini-games for those who would like more game content. Once the game is more finalized, I would eventually like to publish to the app store.
