Inspiration

Managing events through social media platforms like Telegram or WhatsApp can be cumbersome and time-consuming. Many modern event management tools lack effective real-time collaboration features, which are crucial for efficient event coordination. We wanted to create a platform that fills this gap, offering a suite of features specifically tailored to help both the event and manpower communities streamline their processes.

What It Does

Bihance—short for "Business Enhanced"—is designed to meet the dynamic needs of event management, with a focus on real-time collaboration. By utilizing both Convex and Postgres, Bihance offers a scalable solution that can adapt to business needs as they grow. It enables teams to collaborate more effectively on event planning and execution, all within one unified platform. We utilized the concept of workspace and private spaces to assign and share files based on the organization you are in.

How We Built It

We chose Next.js as the framework for its flexibility and because our team has a strong proficiency in it. For authentication, we integrated Clerk, as it allowed us to focus on developing core features without getting bogged down by the complexity of user authentication and management. The platform leverages Convex for real-time data syncing and Postgres for structured storage, offering the best of both worlds in terms of scalability and speed.

Challenges We Ran Into

One of our major challenges was finding clients. We employed various strategies, including cold calling, emailing, and attending networking events, all while carefully researching and planning the feature sets most relevant to the industry. Additionally, managing the state between drag-and-drop functionality on our Kanban board presented some technical hurdles. Querying through the document-style database required thoughtful caching strategies, and we faced a learning curve in optimizing performance between real-time updates and caching layers.

Accomplishments We’re Proud Of

We are proud to have onboarded three satisfied clients who actively use our platform for their real-time collaboration needs. Their positive feedback validates our belief that Bihance solves real pain points in the event management space, and that’s an accomplishment we’re incredibly proud of.

What We Learned

Throughout this journey, we learned how to better manage client expectations, as well as how to develop faster and more efficient real-time applications. We also gained insights into optimizing state management in complex interfaces like Kanban boards, while still maintaining seamless real-time collaboration.

What’s Next for Bihance

Our next goal is to expand our reach and work with more event management companies. We plan to continuously refine the platform, adding more intuitive features to make event coordination even simpler. As we grow, we hope to make Bihance the go-to platform for event management, enhancing collaboration and efficiency across the industry.
