Title: Breaking Down Barriers: Designing for Inclusivity
Story:
At the heart of our Cadathon project lies a simple yet powerful belief: everyone deserves access. We were tasked with designing an accessible ramp for a public building, a challenge that ignited our passion for creating inclusive spaces.
We started by immersing ourselves in the principles of universal design. We studied existing accessibility guidelines, researched best practices. This empathetic approach fueled our design process.
Using state-of-the-art CAD software, we meticulously modeled the ramp, paying close attention to every detail. We considered factors like slope, width, handrail placement, and surface texture to ensure a safe and comfortable user experience. Our goal was to create a ramp that was not only functional but also visually appealing, seamlessly integrating into the building's architecture.
Throughout the project, we faced several challenges. We had to work within the constraints of the existing building structure, ensuring the ramp didn't disrupt the overall design. We also had to balance functionality with aesthetics, creating a ramp that was both accessible and visually pleasing.
