Inspiration
Bigfoot’s Survival Tips was inspired by the idea of flipping typical outdoor advice videos on their head—what if the one creature who’s supposedly the master of the wilderness was struggling with the same summer problems as the rest of us? Heat, thirst, long hikes, warm drinks… even Bigfoot needs help sometimes. The project takes the mythology of Bigfoot and blends it with modern humor, giving him a voice (and attitude) as he shares “survival wisdom” that inevitably leads back to the need for cold, refreshing IceCool water.
What it does
The video presents a quick, comedic crash course in Bigfoot’s summer survival strategies. Through deadpan humor, playful gestures, and exaggerated wilderness advice, Bigfoot shows the viewer how he deals with heat and dehydration. The punchline, of course, is that even he can’t survive the southern Virginia summer without stopping by the IceCool vending machine. It’s fast, fun, and built as an anti-commercial that leans into humor and personality rather than a traditional sales pitch.
How we built it
Bigfoot was created and animated using AI generation tools, including Kling and various image models to lock down his design and expressions. The footage was composited, stabilized, and refined in Adobe Premiere Pro. Color grading and minor cleanup were done in After Effects. The script, timing, and comedic beats were shaped around the performance style you’d expect from a vlogger or survival-guide influencer—just with Bigfoot as the star. Sound effects and timing were layered to punch up the comedy.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was maintaining visual consistency for Bigfoot across generations—fur texture, eye placement, body shape, and lighting can change drastically from one output to another. Another challenge was getting AI motion and facial expressions to feel comedic rather than uncanny. Achieving precise timing for the jokes required several iterations of re-generation, manual cutting, and remixing shots to get the pacing right. Balancing the “ad” tone with a humorous, organic feel also required careful editing.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of how well Bigfoot’s personality comes across in such a short piece. The final video feels energetic, playful, and genuinely funny. The comedic rhythm landed, the character design held together, and the promotional message is subtle enough that it never overpowers the humor. It successfully blends AI character animation with real-world branding in a way that feels fresh and entertaining.
What we learned
This project taught us a lot about using AI to create comedic timing and personality-driven performances. We learned how much tweaking is required to keep a consistent character model and how to guide AI generations toward exaggerated expressions without losing believability. It also reinforced how important editing rhythm is—especially in comedy, where every frame counts.
What's next for "Bigfoot's Survival Tips"
There’s a ton of room to expand the Bigfoot universe. Future installments could cover more survival “lessons,” seasonal tips, campground encounters, or even a full summer-series of Bigfoot vlogs. We’re also considering stylized versions, holiday specials, and 4th-of-July tie-ins for the Cape Charles and Waverly IceCool locations. Bigfoot’s misadventures are just getting started.
