Inspiration

The challenge was to create a crystal ball to predict something unique. Instantly, the crystal ball theme made us think of magic and mystical creatures and the search for something unique lead us to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organisation and the corresponding Bigfoot Sighting Dataset

What it does

We used the Bigfoot Sighting Dataset to train an AI model that, with some other metrics, predicts at what date Bigfoot will be visiting a specific location.

How we built it

We used Python for data-science and analytics in order to find x and correlations in the data, and used a SARIMA model to forecast future sighting quantities. The frontend was created with HTML, CSS and JavaScript and the whole project is connected together using Flask.

Challenges we ran into

Bigfoot Report Data isn't very easy to deal with or train a model with, as we added other data sources it became even more complex to try to train our AI model.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The UI is amazing and ties the whole project together. We also have to mention the accuracy of our AI prediction model.

What we learned

It is illegal to hunt Bigfoot in Washington

What's next for Bigfoot is Real

We have many other datasets lined up that we have performed extensive research on, going forward we would incorporate these into the algorithm to improve predictive performance.
