Inspiration

Our inspiration stemmed from a desire to streamline volunteer management processes and enhance the overall experience for both volunteers and administrators. We recognized the potential for positive impact within communities when volunteer engagement is effectively facilitated.

What it does

Big At Heart simplifies volunteer management by allowing volunteers to register, enroll in opportunities, track their engagement, and provide feedback. Administrators can create event enrolment forms, manage attendance, and track volunteered hours.

How we built it

We built Big At Heart using React.js for the frontend, Node.js and Express.js for the backend, and MongoDB for the database. Redux was utilized for state management, while HTML/CSS, Material UI and Chakra UI were employed for responsive design and styling.

Challenges We Faced

During the development process, we encountered several challenges. Ensuring smooth communication between frontend and backend components proved to be a significant hurdle. Additionally, implementing features like attendance tracking while maintaining performance and scalability posed considerable challenges.

What's next for Big At Heart

In the future, we plan to enhance Big At Heart with additional features such as advanced reporting and analytics, integration with third-party platforms, and further optimization for scalability and performance. We aim to continue iterating and improving the platform to better serve the needs of our users and maximize its positive impact within communities.
