Inspiration

We built BidNorth because we noticed that small businesses often spend a lot of time preparing for tenders without knowing if they’re actually ready. A lot of bid requirements are hard to understand early on, and it can be easy to miss compliance gaps before investing too much time and money.

What it does

BidNorth helps businesses check whether they’re ready to bid on a tender before they commit resources. It compares a tender against the company’s profile and highlights missing evidence, hard-stop issues, and things that need review before moving forward.

How we built it

We built it with Next.js, React, and TypeScript. The app uses a clear interface and logic to evaluate readiness based on company information and tender requirements. We also added an AI coach to give helpful next-step guidance.

Challenges we ran into

The hardest part was making a complicated procurement process simple enough to understand without losing important details. We also had to make sure the app clearly separated verified requirements from missing evidence and human review items.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We made a working MVP that solves a real problem and shows how a readiness check can save time and effort. We’re proud that the app is practical, clear, and focused on decision-making.

What we learned

We learned that procurement readiness is not just about matching requirements, it’s also about explaining clearly why something matters. Making the reasoning easy to understand is just as important as the technology itself.

What's next for BidNorth

We want to improve the company profile flow, add more tender data, and make the readiness insights even more helpful for users. In the future, we hope BidNorth becomes a tool businesses use early to decide whether a tender is worth pursuing.
