Inspiration
XDSEA MONKEYS started as a joke when XDSEA.COM announced their platform. It was confusing to say XDSEA to people vocally because it sounded like XDC, so i though saying XDSEA MONKEYS would help people realize I meant "sea" not "c!"
Originally this was intended as a fun and profitable project but I wanted to give it a forced value to protect investors, thus the crowd funded XDC node came into the picture and so far has been a hit.
What it does
Our NFT is simple. They are listed for 10K XDC or more depending on the art type. Random generated art, had made art, and custom art. Each purchase goes directly toward the money pool with zero percent profits taken out. Each NFT represents the value of the original sale. The NFT will ultimately act as data for the rewards to be proportionately dispersed to the proper wallets using metadata stored on the NFT and the owner address at the time of the monthly snap shot. If someone sells the NFT the rewards are then sent to the new owners.
How we built it
Using XDSEA as the launch pad, I have been minting the NFT's as we go to raise the capital we need for the next step which is to create a new contract and token with our own smart contracts and metadata. This will require swapping the original NFT for the updated equivalent in a dApp that may require KYC to access depending on the final decision made by the governing team as well as suggestion of legal advisors. Ultimately there will be smart contracts automating as much of the process as possible, though none of that is truly required for the project to work, as manual reward dispersion is plan B if the project outpaces Smart contract Development.
Challenges we ran into
So far the simplicity has only made the minting tedious while the project has otherwise been rolling along far ahead of the anticipated timeline. We are not paying for any marketing and have only been using Twitter, Youtube, and Discord to communicate.
The biggest challenge is the unknown and whether or not this is considered a security as the regulations are still confusing or outdated still and hard to apply to the space.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The community we have created with our project is by far the best accomplishment. While the idea of the project and the success of the fund raising comes 2nd to that, it would not have made it as far as we have without them! XDSEA MONKEYS have been bringing new people to XDC and waking up projects to the epic capabilities of the system.
What we learned
Due to the unique approach to most aspects of the project the entire thing has truly been a learning experience all the way down to the business structure itself. Using an NFT to tokenize a node in a non-profit structure has not yet been done so we are essentially learning how to create the working model while pioneering it simultaneously.
What's next for Bibliomp NFT
After XDSEA MONKEYS get the node rolling we are releasing round 2 which is a Zodiac based set of Bibliomp Characters that follow the same model but as a for profit project which will fund the development of Bibliomp itself, which will be an NFT based Virtual Reality cartoon style fighting game where you can buy and sell randomly generated Bibliomps. We are creating a Metaverse environment to even display 3 Dimensional versions of our favorite mints between projects. The fees and taxes that are involved in the Game NFTs, Merch, and Market place will fund a Treasury that holders will be able to use to fund humanitarian ideas people can submit.
