Inspiration

We wanted to create a simple and engaging way for people to listen to Bible stories. Many apps focus only on text, but we saw an opportunity to combine audio, transcripts, and personalization features to make the experience more immersive.

What it does

BibleNow brings Bible stories to life through audio episodes, complete with transcripts for easy reading. Users can customize playback with background sounds, adjust speed, and bookmark favorite stories. The app organizes content into books and episodes, making it easy to explore the entire biblical narrative at your own pace.

How we built it

We developed BibleNow using the following technologies:

Flutter for the cross-platform mobile app
Next.js for the CMS used to upload all the content, translations, etc...
Supabase and node for the Backend
RevenueCat to integrate In App Subscriptions
ElevenLabs to generate all the voices used (currently available in English and Spanish)
Appsflyer and Amplitude for Attribution and Analytics
n8n was used to automatize many repetitive workflows
OneSignal is used to send notifications

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenges were handling seamless audio integration and producing a large amount of high-quality content in a short time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We only started building less than three weeks ago, and we’ve already created an app with beautiful design and great usability.

What we learned

Along the way, we gained valuable experience working with SQL databases and explored how to create content with AI.

What's next for BibleNow

We’re planning to launch BibleNow for Kids, a version tailored to younger audiences with simplified stories and engaging content.

I was responsible for building and automating the entire content pipeline and handling the go-to-market strategy.

Created a scraping and organisation system for all Bible books, episodes, and chapters using n8n.

Connected Google Drive and Google Sheets APIs to n8n to automatically generate structured metadata: titles, descriptions, and narrative scripts for each episode.

Designed custom AI prompts to generate faithful and engaging scripts in both English and Spanish.

Built an automation workflow with n8n + ElevenLabs to transform each script into high-quality text-to-speech audio, with a custom narrator voice in English and Spanish. The audio files were automatically stored in Google Drive and integrated into the CMS.

Led the App Store Optimization (ASO) process across iOS and Android: localised descriptions, keywords, screenshots, promotional texts, and feature graphics for both English and Spanish markets.

Developed the visual assets (mockups, screenshots with messaging) and the launch strategy to maximise discoverability and conversion.

This combination of automated content generation, AI voice integration, and ASO ensures that BibleNow can scale quickly and reach a global audience in multiple languages.

I was responsible for the full technical development of BibleNow, covering the mobile app, backend, and CMS.

Designed and developed the mobile app for iOS and Android, implementing the audio player, user interface, and premium features to make the listening experience smooth and intuitive using Flutter.

Built the backend services to manage content delivery, ensuring that the app could scale and perform reliably using Supabase and node.

Created and connected the CMS where all episodes, chapters, and audio files are stored and organised, so the content pipeline integrates seamlessly with the app using Next.js.

Integrated RevenueCat to handle in-app purchases and subscription management, making offerings simple to use and easy to maintain.

Implemented advanced features such as offline listening, autoplay, bookmarks, and playback customisation, and transcriptions, which add value for both free and premium users.

All BibleNow chapters are now fully updated in English and Spanish. Built with Flutter, powered by ElevenLabs TTS, and managed with RevenueCat, the app is available on both iOS and Android.

We’ve just submitted a fresh set of screenshots for BibleNow on the App Store. The new visuals showcase the experience we want our users to feel: immersive narration, bilingual content, offline listening, and unique artwork for every story.

The update is currently under Apple’s review, so it should be visible in the coming days. Google Play is coming soon — stay tuned!
