Inspiration
Bible Clues was inspired by my desire to make Bible learning more interactive, engaging, and fun — especially for young people who may find traditional study methods less exciting. I wanted to transform scripture knowledge into a playful experience that encourages both learning and quick thinking.
What it does
Bible Clues is a fast-paced trivia and clue-based game where players are presented with hints related to Bible stories, characters, and events. Players must quickly recall their knowledge to guess the correct answers, earn points, and progress through increasingly challenging rounds.
How we built it
The game was built using GameMaker, focusing on a lightweight structure suitable for web deployment. Development included designing UI screens, implementing gameplay logic, integrating visual assets, creating a scoring system, and optimizing performance for smooth browser gameplay.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was balancing question difficulty so the game remained accessible while still being challenging. Another challenge was optimizing UI assets to ensure fast loading and smooth performance in a web environment.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully created an educational game that combines faith-based learning with engaging gameplay. The project also achieved a clean UI design, smooth interactions, and a simple user experience that allows players to start playing immediately.
What we learned
Through building Bible Clues, we learned how to structure scalable game logic, optimize assets for web performance, design intuitive educational gameplay, and balance content difficulty to maintain player engagement.
What's next for Bible Clues
Next steps include adding more question categories, implementing difficulty levels, introducing multiplayer or leaderboard features, improving animations, and expanding the game to support more interactive learning experiences.
