Bias Buster

Inspiration

We wanted to help reduce unintentional bias when it came to looking at resumes, because it plays a big factor in creating diversity in a work place.

What it does

Our product changes the name on the resume to be a random gender neutral name.

How we built it

we split the work up among three of us. one person focused on building the website and the other two worked on the coding to make edits to the imports on the website.

Challenges we ran into

We had a hard time figuring out on how to convert the pdf resume to a text file in order to make edits to the text. It was also difficult to import all types of libraries to make it work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We worked together to come up with ideas and worked hard to implement it. Even though we ran into challenges we were able to work past it.

What we learned

We learned how to efficiently split up work and work together to get things done. Not only that we learned how to successfully research and fix something when we encounter a problem.

What's next for Bias Buster

We were unable to convert PDFs into text strings on the IDE we were using, so being able to do this would make it a onestep process, and much more user friendly.
