Inspiration
Implicit Bias in the health care system is a big issue. In the last 5 years, new research has forced medical professionals to confront their baizes, but there aren't any resources available to patients. Twitter has plenty of personal experiences and tips for these experiences, but women and POC need a collection of resources.
What it does
Bias Buster provides resources for Women and POC navigating the healthcare system and creates a community for users to share their experiences and connect with each other.
Challenges I ran into
Collaborating with a brand new group is always a challenge, but this weekend proved we make a good team. Technically, we ran into issues deploying with Google Appengine, and have been working on the local server in the meantime.
How I built it
Bias buster as built using HTML, CSS, and JS
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
For many of us, this is our first Technica or first Hackathon, so having a working project is exciting!
What I learned
Research for the project was intense and difficult, making this project more difficult, knowing the gravity of the issue.
What's next for Bias Breaker
We would like to implement the UserService API and the Google Maps API to make the user experience more personalized.
