Project Story

Inspiration

Food waste and hunger often exist side by side. Many households, events, and restaurants have excess food, while nearby people struggle to get a proper meal. This gap inspired us to build BhojanBond – Connecting Food & Care, a platform that links surplus food providers with people or NGOs who need it. We wanted to create a simple, fast, and responsible way to share food instead of wasting it.

About the Project

BhojanBond is a food-sharing platform that allows users to post available surplus food with details like quantity, pickup location, and time. Nearby individuals or organizations can view and collect the food before it goes to waste. Through this project, we learned how technology can solve real social problems, especially in community welfare. We focused on usability, speed, and accessibility so that even non-technical users can use the platform easily.

How We Built It

We designed the user flow to be very simple: post food → view nearby posts → collect food. The project was built using modern web and mobile-friendly technologies, with attention to clean UI and basic backend logic for data handling. We also worked on presenting the idea clearly through a demo video and project documentation.

Challenges We Faced

Designing a simple UI for all types of users Managing food expiry time and pickup deadlines Limited time and resources during the hackathon Coordinating features within a short development window Despite these challenges, we successfully built a working prototype and gained valuable teamwork and problem-solving experience.
