Inspiration
BharatSahay AI was inspired by the idea that AI should be accessible to everyone, regardless of the language they speak. India has many languages, but most AI tools are mainly designed for English users. We wanted to create an AI assistant that allows people to interact naturally in Indian languages and get useful assistance.
What it does
BharatSahay AI is a multilingual AI action assistant for Indian users. Users can enter their questions or requirements in Indian languages, and the AI understands the request and provides a useful response. The goal is to make AI simple, accessible, and comfortable for people across India.
How we built it
We built the frontend using React, TypeScript, and Vite. The backend was developed using Python and FastAPI. The frontend communicates with the backend through REST APIs, and the backend handles the AI processing and returns the response to the user. We used GitHub for version control and deployed the frontend and backend separately using Render.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was connecting the frontend and backend after deployment. We had to configure environment variables, API URLs, and CORS correctly. We also faced dependency and deployment issues while moving the project from our local system to the cloud. Testing and debugging these issues helped us understand how a complete full-stack application works in a real deployment environment.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we converted our idea into a working AI application and successfully deployed both the frontend and backend. We also implemented multilingual interaction and connected the complete flow from the user interface to the backend and AI processing. This project gave us practical experience in building and deploying an end-to-end AI application.
What we learned
Through this project, we learned how frontend, backend, APIs, AI processing, and cloud deployment work together. We gained practical experience with React, TypeScript, FastAPI, REST APIs, GitHub, environment variables, CORS, and Render. We also learned that building a useful AI product requires focusing on real user needs and accessibility.
What's next for BharatSahayAI
In the future, we plan to add voice-based interaction, support more Indian languages and dialects, improve regional language understanding, and introduce text-to-speech responses. We also plan to develop a mobile application and integrate more useful services. Our long-term goal is to make BharatSahay AI a simple and accessible AI assistant for people across India.
