Inspiration

India has long struggled with protein deficiency in daily diets. As gym culture becomes more mainstream, many Indian fitness enthusiasts still find it difficult to meet their protein requirements without turning to expensive supplements or abandoning their traditional food preferences. BhaaratGainz was built to solve this problem by helping users hit their protein goals without compromising their Indian roots.

What It Does

BhaaratGainz is a culturally grounded nutrition assistant that enables users to:

Browse high-protein Indian recipes (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) with detailed macro breakdowns and “protein boost” tips.

Compare top whey protein brands in India using objective metrics such as protein per scoop, BCAA content, certifications, and price.

Discover affordable protein-rich food options, displayed with cost-per-gram and product category.

Use a built-in chat interface to ask questions and receive guidance based on their profile data.

Note: The current version includes a basic chat interface. Full AI integration is planned for future updates, pending access to paid Glide features or external APIs.

How We Built It

We used Glide, a no-code app-building platform, to design the prototype. We manually curated datasets for Indian food macros, protein comparisons, and budget-friendly sources from credible online nutrition databases. The onboarding form helps personalize the user experience. Although the current chat feature is simple, the app is structured to seamlessly integrate AI when upgraded to the premium version of Glide.

Challenges We Ran Into

Finding accurate and localized macro data for Indian recipes.

Presenting whey protein comparisons in a neutral, informative format without endorsing brands.

Designing a user flow that balances clarity, cultural relevance, and depth.

Navigating the limitations of the free version of Glide, particularly in AI and logic automation.

Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

Creating a fully functional prototype rooted in a real-world problem.

Designing a culturally relevant and budget-conscious solution for Indian gymgoers.

Building a well-organized knowledge base of Indian foods and supplements.

Laying the groundwork for future AI-based personalization without writing a single line of code.

What We Learned

Cultural alignment is crucial in nutrition tech—users value familiar foods and local context.

Simplicity and clarity go a long way when educating users about protein and diet.

No-code tools like Glide can be powerful when used creatively within constraints.

Building with real user needs in mind leads to more meaningful features.

What’s Next for BhaaratGainz

Integrate an AI-powered chat assistant to personalize diet plans and meal suggestions.

Expand the food and supplement database to include regional cuisines and micronutrient data.

Add tracking tools for daily protein intake, meal logging, and goal progress.

Transition to a fully coded, scalable version of the app for wider accessibility.

Collaborate with fitness influencers and registered dietitians to validate and promote the platform.
