Inspiration: We are entrepreneurs and engineers who are disrupting the industry in the near future. The pandemic caused an 'itch' within us. We just have to play our part and do something to fix things. We saw countless teams developing ventilators that were lacking in terms of quality and safety.
What it does: We designed a ventilator that should require nothing but simple assembly of components. We developed it for remote monitoring and control; allowing one doctor to work with up to 10 patients at a time without entering the ICU, a concern shared by doctors since due to the situation, they have to get into PPE's before entering the ICU, and the time spent doing that can mean a very big difference.
How I built it: My team already has the expertise needed for instrumentation of such devices. We designed our own devices individually and integrated our designs to make one suitable ventilator.
Challenges I ran into: Procurement of equipment
Accomplishments that I'm proud of: The fact that this ventilator does not use an Ambu bag - a mechanism used by a lot of recently developed respirators, which is not fit for ICU's.
What I learned: Raising money is the biggest barrier for a skilled individual.
What's next for Bfreeze: Certification and mass production
