Inspiration

The goal is to make the cosmetics application process less scary for people with various types of permanent disability. But also be something that the general population won't feel excluded from using.

What it does

BFF uses camera technology to help with color analysis, identifying skin tones or colors, and identifying products. It'll also help to build communities of similar minded people that can share how they do their own specific makeup routines and what products they love to use.

How we built it

We built out the idea in Figma.

Challenges we ran into

We found that they biggest challenge of this task was figuring out how much research was enough. We spent the majority of the time delving into doing research and preparing to create the product, but even through the ideation and creation process, we continuously kept wanting to add more and more to the product.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to create an app that met our goal of wanting to help break down the cosmetics application process. The idea of the app is quite simple, but if built out would yield incredible results.

What we learned

There can never be enough research when producing a product as comprehensive as the BFF.

What's next for BFF - Beauty Finder Friend

Our milestones for the next 3-12 months involves:

  • Getting investors.
  • Starting technical development of the product.
  • Then we generate buzz around the product on social media.
  • Following that we do a couple rounds of testing with controlled user groups.
  • Apply the user feedback received to the product.
  • And finally, do an official release to the wider market.
