🚀 Beyond the Bank – 'The Vibe-Changer Policy Tool'

🌟 Inspiration

I got inspired by the idea that money doesn’t always mean happiness.
While exploring the OECD Well-being dataset, I noticed something interesting — some countries with high income still have lower life satisfaction.
That made me think that real progress should be about how people feel, not just how much they earn.
So I wanted to create a tool that helps people and policymakers see what really matters — things like social support, safety, and education.

đź’ˇ What It Does

My app shows how different countries are doing in terms of life satisfaction, not just GDP.
It highlights the “Happiness Paradox” — rich countries are not always happiest.
It also shows Life Satisfaction Trends Over Time (Finland, Denmark, Germany, Norway, and Sweden), and predicts how much happiness can increase if one factor improves (like Safety or Social Connections).
It finally gives a clear insight — which area gives the best “Vibe-ROI” or return on happiness when improved.

đź›  How We Built It

  • Dataset: OECD Well-being Indicators
  • Tools used: Python, Plotly Dash, Plotly Studio
  • Steps: Cleaned the data, built visual dashboards, and created a small prediction part to show how improving one factor changes happiness.
I tried to keep everything interactive and easy to understand for users who might not be technical.

âš™ Challenges We Faced

At first, it was hard to handle so many factors together (income, education, safety, etc.).
Another challenge was to make visuals that look simple but still show something meaningful.
And building a prediction logic that feels accurate without being too complicated was also tricky.

🏆 Accomplishments

I’m proud that this project can make people think differently — that growth isn’t only about money.
It felt great to see clear patterns in the data and build an app that can actually help in real-world decisions.
Also, the visual story came out clean and easy to explore!

📚 What We Learned

I learned that happiness is multi-dimensional. You can’t just measure it by income.
I also understood the power of visualizing data — how it can change the way people think about policies.
And I learned how much difference small design choices make in user experience.

🔮 What’s Next

Next, I want to add a feature where the tool can automatically suggest the best improvement strategy using AI.
Also, adding real-time data and maybe creating a “Global Vibe Index” sounds exciting for the future.
Because in the end, GDP matters, but happiness matters more.
