Beyond Earth is an AI-powered platform that uses NASA research, engineering simulations, and Google Gemini to help users design and optimize habitats on Mars, Venus, and Titan. By analyzing oxygen, water, electricity, and life-support systems, our platform identifies resource shortages, compares equipment configurations, and provides AI-assisted recommendations to make planetary habitat design more efficient and accessible.
One of our biggest challenges was combining NASA research, engineering calculations, and AI into one platform. We had to ensure that Google Gemini's recommendations were scientifically reasonable and supported by engineering principles. Another challenge was connecting the frontend and backend while making complex habitat simulations easy for users to understand.
We plan to expand Beyond Earth by adding more planetary environments, improving the accuracy of our engineering simulations, and incorporating real-time NASA data. We also hope to introduce interactive 3D habitat models, advanced AI optimization, and more detailed resource calculations to help users design safer, more sustainable habitats for future space exploration.
