Inspiration

The inspiration for this app came from a simple everyday observation: most people pick up a beverage without truly understanding what’s inside it. Nutrition labels are printed in small fonts, values are shown “per 100g,” and the real impact on our health often goes unnoticed. I realized that many people—especially children—consume drinks that contain high sugar, caffeine, or harmful additives without any awareness of the risks. This motivated me to create an app that makes this information easy, clear, and accessible for everyone. By adding features like per-pack calculations and a Child Safety Indicator, I wanted to build a tool that protects families, supports healthier choices, and brings transparency to something we consume almost every day. My goal was to turn confusion into clarity and help people make better, safer decisions with just a single scan.

What it does

This app scans the barcode on any beverage and instantly provides a clear, easy-to-understand health analysis. It converts the nutritional values shown “per 100g” into accurate per-pack calculations and displays complete details such as calories, protein, carbs, sugars, fats, sodium, caffeine, additives, and allergens. The app also generates a simple health verdict—Advisable, Use with Caution, or Avoid—based on the drink’s overall nutritional quality. In addition, it includes a Child Safety Indicator that checks sugar levels, caffeine content, artificial additives, and preservatives to determine if the beverage is safe for children. By combining smart calculations with safety alerts, the app helps users make healthier and more informed choices in just one scan.

How we built it

Using Base44 and my knowledge from the Base44 workshop.

Challenges we ran into

network problem at hostel, and base44 didn't work as we wanted, we have tried for two days for a perfect Demo.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Turning a Real-World Problem Into a Practical Solution
  2. Creating a Clear “Advisable or Not” Health Verdict System
  3. Converting Complex Nutrition Data Into Real Per-Pack Values
  4. Building a Complete Nutritional Analyzer From Scratch
  5. Designing the App to Help People Protect Their Health
  6. Learning New Skills and Applying Them Meaningfully
  7. Creating Something That Can Grow Into a Bigger Ecosystem ## What we learned
  8. I learned how to convert real-world problems into digital solutions.
  9. I learned how barcode scanning technology works.
  10. I learned how to process and interpret nutritional data.
  11. I learned how to build a meaningful health rating system.
  12. I learned how to simplify complex data for users.
  13. I improved my UI/UX thinking.
  14. I learned how to work with APIs and databases.
  15. I learned how important data accuracy is.
  16. I learned how to think like a product builder, not just a developer. ## What's next for BevGuard We want every parent in India to know what their children should eat and what not. I want to make India healthy. The average life expectancy of an Indian is 65.33 it should increase to 90. Most of the Indian's should be Healthy.
