Inspiration

Between Two Identical Memories was inspired by the emotional dissonance of losing home and trying to rebuild identity in a new reality. While going through therapy, I realised how fragmented memory becomes under trauma — and how returning to oneself is the only path toward clarity. The film grew out of my personal process of healing, reflection, and searching for inner stability in a world reshaped by displacement.

What it does

The film creates a meditative cinematic space where the viewer can slow down, breathe, and recognise their own emotional patterns mirrored in the narrative. It gently guides the audience through themes of memory, trauma, and self-recovery, offering a non-linear but deeply human journey back to a sense of inner home.

How we built it

The project was developed over four months, combining text, visual metaphors, and AI-driven imagery. I built the narrative alongside my own therapeutic work, rewriting scenes as personal insights unfolded. Every chapter reflects a stage of emotional processing — from denial and illusion to confrontation and reconnection with the self. AI tools were used not as spectacle, but as extensions of memory: soft, shifting, and imperfect, just like the mind.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was balancing emotional depth with clarity — ensuring the film remained accessible rather than overwhelming. I also struggled with the weight of personal material: translating private healing into a universal story required distance, discipline, and careful editing. Technically, shaping AI imagery into a consistent, meditative rhythm demanded more iteration and emotional sensitivity than expected.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud that the project became both a film and a form of self-therapy. It allowed me to integrate painful memories without idealising or dramatizing them. I’m proud of its emotional honesty, the coherence of the final structure, and the number of people who told me the story resonated with their own hidden experiences of loss and identity.

What we learned

I learned again that, through the artistic experience, I can release my pain and the energy it was holding.

What's next for Between Two Identical Memories

Next, based on this character, I'm building an AI influencer that completely changed her tone of voice because I have already released. And it's going to be humor between humanity and technology in the age of AI.
