Inspiration

Being from a Farming family and also an environmentalist I always wanted to tell the masses how in-efficiently we are treating our planet and making it worse for the future generations and Ourselves. We always complain about Government policies and Government officials for most of the cases. I believe if everyone starts changing themselves we can make the world a better place and the government will create the new rules according to that. BT app is based on a 3 step strategy - “ Become Aware - Be the Change - Motivate Others”. Using this Monday app, members of an organization can gain awareness, participate in activities like quizzes, improve their knowledge and Motivate others to join the cause.

What it does

BT is a MondayApp that helps users to gain awareness, Participate in quizzes, Earn badges and Become a mentor for others in your organization. Additionally “Did you know ” Module will give you daily dose facts about the Climate changes like food consumption, Fuel consumption, energy consumption, plastic usages and many more.

Awareness :Awareness board contains different groups namely Global warming, The Pledge, Food consumption, Energy consumption, Plastics and Impacts. Each Group item contains information about the specific topic and Quizzes. Additionally interactive graphs for intuitive user experience.
Leaderboard: Leader Board displays the badges earned by the participants by completing the quizzes. There are five levels of badges namely- Student, Admirer, Researcher, Fellowship, Scholar.
Mentor Boards: The participants who completed all the quizzes and earned all badges can be a mentor.
Did you know Board: Every day you get some thought provoking facts about climate change in this board and as notifications.

How we built it

We used Python flask and Pgsql for the backend and frontend is built using HTML and Monday JS SDK.

Challenges we ran into

Initial idea is a self contained awareness app without relying on any third party services. Due to the private board being limited to certain plans we had to use the Back end, else all the data can be stored in the private boards of each account. Since it does not support iframe in the items view, we had to create the app for the items view as well.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

While working on the climate change theme and digging for data we got a deeper insight on how badly we are treating the earth. we have crafted this app for a newbie who can also gain insightful knowledge about the impacts of climate change and how effectively they can use natural resources and reduce the emissions and change themselves. Hoping that can transform many.

What we learned

First of all we got insightful knowledge of the climate change factors. While building the Monday app, I got more insight on how effectively we can present the data and how we can make it more engaging. I also learned that using Monday.com we can even create an awareness platform and LMS system.

What's next for BetterTomorrow (BT)

Getting approval for Monday marketplace
Next versions we are going to build using the private board as a Database , So the system itself is not relying on any external DB.
Different versions for different Monday plans, so even individual plans can have a smaller version and other plans have a self-sustaining app with higher features including the dashboards, Automations and data for various sectors for increasing awareness.
