Inspiration

Our team was inspired by the lack of financial literacy among many Americans. Despite the importance of these topics, no shortage in resources to learn, and countless ways to invest and save, many don't know how to truly invest without paying for a financial advisor. We wanted to tackle ADP's prompt with a website helps you become better with your bills!

What it does

Our website creates an interactive way for our users to learn financial topics through classes, use personalized budgeting and portfolio management tools, and leverages LLMs to create a detailed investment plan for its user's specific financial situation and goals.

How we built it

We built our website by identifying our problem of focus and brainstorming key features and design choices first. We then split up the different features per person - user interface, AI agent, website tools, front/back ends - and combined them to create our website.

Challenges we ran into

We experienced some problems using Databricks for the first time - while the software was practical, we had no experience with it beforehand, and navigating this took some time. We also had issues developing our AI agent.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of our human-friendly user interface, which creates a welcoming and unintimidating environment to learn about money or to seek your own financial advice.

What we learned

Our team learned a lot of new information and skills from this hackathon. Some of the technical skills which we experienced working with for the first time include 3D modeling, front-end development with React, and using LLMs in an AI agent. Furthermore, we each learned many new financial topics through our research into BetterBills' brief learning classes.

What's next for BetterBills

We hope to add more detail onto this project to strengthen our AI agent's responses and market analysis. With rigid upkeep, BetterBills could soon begin to help people all across the country !
