Inspiration
The average global footprint per person is 4 tons each year. Our carbon footprint has a detrimental effect on the environment in a number of ways, including as the primary driver of human-induced climate change, a major contributor to urban air pollution, a cause of toxic acid rain, a contributor to the acidification of the ocean and coasts, and worsened glacier and polar ice melting. Reducing your carbon footprint is important because it lessens the effects of global climate change, enhances public health, and preserves biodiversity. By reducing carbon emissions, we can ensure that future generations will enjoy access to healthier air, water, and food. The quality of humans and their pet’s lives can be increased with “Better Tomorrow”.
What it does
My application, “Better Tomorrow”, encourages users to reduce their annual carbon footprint by creating eco-friendly goals and habits. “Better Tomorrow” also doubles as an application which helps users who have pets to choose healthy food for their pets and it finds vet clinics.
How we built it
The front end of this application for iPhones was built using Figma. The website was built using HTML and CSS on Replit.
Challenges we ran into
Due to timing issues, I was unable to fully complete the website. Another issue I ran into was trying to integrate the front-end with the backend.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of creating the front-end and beginning to develop the website all in one weekend. And, making a web app that works.
What we learned
Using Figma was a new experience for me and it was fun to learn.
What's next for Better Tomorrow
A feature that could be added is to connect with your friends to complete your goals together, or to challenge them in daily tasks. In addition to this, another feature that could be added is a rewards feature that gives users “prizes” once they complete a certain number of goals. Another feature would be integrating the user login to the website is next.
