Tools to make hackathons more engaging
Collaboration tools: Communication and collaboration are key to making progress quickly during a hackathon. Once the hacakthon is started, different official groups can be created and group members can interact with each other for official communication related to hackathon. The too I recommend is Slack. Group interaction makes hackathon more interactive and check the progress of each member.
Project management tools: It can be helpful to use a project management tool to keep track of progress, set goals, and assign tasks. Tools like Monday, Trello are helpful. Teams/groups assign tasks and set goals with deadliles, thus helps in better management of projects under hackathon which produce better results.
Weekly Team Meetings: Weekly team meetings amoung groups, Hackathon weekly meeting with representatives/team leader of all groups and mid term presentations are also important to keep hackathon fun and engaging. There should be one weekly meeting where individual group meet with its members and then weekly meeting with hackathon manager and all groups team leaders is very important. The preffered tools are google meet.
Design tools:Tools like Sketch, Figma, to create wireframes, prototypes, and user interfaces can be used.
Code Repository: Code repository to share all code from hackathon should be used. Services like Bitbucket, and GitLab make it easy to share and collaborate on code, which is essential during a hackathon.
Report Writing Tool: The report writing tool for making presentation and full report of project in the hackathon should be used. Participants can collaborate groupwise/team wise and complete all the documentation. Tools like Google Docs, Google Presentation, Google Data Studio are helpful.
These are all important suggestions to make hackathon better, funfilled and engaging. Ultimately, the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the experience!
