Inspiration

Autonomous Cars, Technological Revolution and Climate Improvement... Sounds like an awesome HackaTUM.

What it does

We provide a modern and innovative approach on autonomous fleet control. A clean and interactive design allows an informative overview over all fleet vehicles in an area. With advanced statistical elements we allow a detailed deep dive into the performance and environment your fleet operates in. Our advanced fleet management algorithm is able to manage advanced environmental disruptions and adapts itself to perform as efficient as possible in every scenario. While keeping most of the original task outline, we allowed our selfs to introduce advanced environmental mechanics like consistent customer demand and vehicle battery management. It wouldn't be a good hackathon if we didn't overestimate what we are capable of. Would it?

How we built it

With the help of an initial MockUp in Figma we were able to compose a clean and informative design for out frontend implementation done in VUE JS. For a more efficient and adaptive API endpoint we wrote an entirely custom backend for vehicle and customer management in Java and tested it with Postman. This allowed us a clean introduction of advanced scenario features as mentioned above. We are able to leverage this custom backend with our extensive fleet management algorithm implemented in Java.

Challenges we ran into

Well... As it turned out 36h are not that much time. Even though we tried to focus on the most important parts, we still ended up dreaming about way to many features. Furthermore, merge conflicts and google maps API are the worst :D

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that everyone used and learned about new frameworks and programming languages that they did not know well or not even knew at all before. And of course that we didn't go insane with this little sleep!

What we learned

Johannes Messner: How to work with Figma MockUp designs and the entirety of VUE. Felix Förster: Frontend/Backend communication and that installing java is not that hard. Lars Schneider: Basic frontend implementaiton and that Call By Reference is a bitch. Aaron Mahlke: Chart Library Lume and sleep is important. Who would have thought?

What's next for Better Fleet Control

Winning of course!
