Better Bids

Inspiration

In today's economy, just saving money is losing money. Investing in stocks has never been more important for financial growth and stability. We want to make a one-stop, easy solution for the risk averse.

What it does

Better Bids does predictive risk analysis on different companies in the stock market and ranks the best companies to invest in, with respect to different types of economic risks. It provides a user friendly and approachable interface for even total beginners to the stock market, allowing them to make informed financial decisions.

How we built it

Our tech stack includes python, open source stock market databases, and react framework. We trained an AI model to predict risk scores for each company, and used the scores to suggest the best companies to invest in.

Challenges we ran into

We were unfamiliar with a lot of the technology we used, especially training AI models. It was a great learning curve to find proper data, train the model, and ensure it is accurate. We wrote the HTML/CSS from scratch, which was rewarding but time consuming.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of completing the project and training an AI model for the first time. We are also proud that our efforts are geared towards making something as important and elusive as stock market investments approachable for newcomers.

What we learned

We became more familiar with technology like Node.js, deciding how to choose the best AI model to train for specific projects, finding relevant datasets and implementing them, and creating user friendly applications.

What's next for Better Bids

We want to take Better Bids to the next level by creating a mobile-app version of this, and also providing risk analysis on many more categories of economic risks.
