the discord bot selects a random Forum market.
the bot shows trend graphs to help you make your bet.
the results and collective punishment is displayed once everyone locks in their bets.

Inspiration

Imagine you and your friends find the game to play together along with the silly punishement for incentive and for fun. Do we choose betting base on The Forum(YC) feature.

What it does

BetBuddies will read through the chat to find the common interest of this group chat (personalize). Then, BetBuddies pull the virality data tailor to the group interest from The Forum to create the question for everyone to betting on, either long or short. If you got it wrong, BetBuddies will give you the punishment to do a good things!

How we built it

We brainstorm how The Forum can integrate to our daily life. After we got the idea that we gonna do some game that we can use to play with friends. We start using The Forum API and integrate to discord bot funtion, writing code under assistant of claude code. Lastly, debugging and testing the discord bot through Discord chat to ensure accuracy and usability.

Challenges we ran into

-Ideation : We emphasize the usability, so we spend a lot of time on brain storming on idea and what we actually use in our daily life. -Debugging : We worked parallelly to ensure rapid trials, but sometimes the error happen and slow the whole process. So, we have to debug as fast as possible to continue working.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-I able to read the chat history and identify the topic and tailor our interest to making a tailored questions -I assure the usability of the Discord bot and able to integrate the Forum api.

What we learned

This hackathon reminds us of the importance of how to work as a team. When there are some conflicts when we merge the GitHub pull request, instead of blaming each other, we stop and start talking about what we did. Then, we continue to move on together which makes the progress moves really fast. This could have gone the opposite if we didn't listen to each other and keep doing our thing. We learn that cooperations and listening to our team mates is one of the most essential skills to have when it comes to hackathon.

What's next for BetBuddies

We will change the punishments make a more creative ones! The punishments willl be something more outoging, encouraging us to do something outdoor. It will make sollege students like us go touch grass more often
