Inspiration

Investment is a subjects that is interesting to me. I admire people like Warren Buffet, Ben Graham and Charlie Manger. So Brief from Josh got my attention.

What it does

BestInvest allows to add one holdings and then run analysis against portfolio to assess how balanced it is.

How I built it

As a backend I opted for Cloudflare worker that runs as a proxy between stocks data providers. It also conducts portfolio analysis. To optimize with providers plan I added caching mechanism. Also this worker can balance between multiple providers if needed. I some functions I build in an MCP server approach. e.g.

Challenges I ran into

Limitations of sticks provider free plan. I swapped FMP to 12 data almost last minute. I was happy I abstracted everything out and have Cloudflare as a mitigation layer so almost no changes were needed on the iOS app side.

Accomplishments that I proud of

Build working MVP. Figured out how to create a backend because my primary job is an iOS developer.
