Inspiration

Our inspiration for the project was our desire to create something creative and fun for the overall hackathon experience. We decided to utilize our shared interest over the Living Culture track to guide us as we began to create our pop culture oracle.

What it does

Lorify, our project, is a pop culture oracle that gives users personalized advice based on any piece of pop culture that they are interested in. Through their own input and choice of delivery, the oracle provides them the best advice that they wish for. Here, based on the delivery chosen by the user, the oracle uses Text to Speech, and voices out the advice that it has generated.

How we built it

We mostly utilized the Gemini API to build the project in the backend, and for the frontend, we utilized React, Next, and Framer Motion. Through this, we were able to create a model that provided users with the content.

Challenges we ran into

We had some initial issues in our approach with the Gemini API. It was the first time that our group had made use of the API, so there was a bit of a learning curve there. Additionally, there were some dependency bugs after some merge conflicts that needed to be addressed too.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of the progress that we were able to make with the project. A big milestone was getting the API connected to the frontend, and seeing the content load.

What we learned

We learned much about the Gemini API development process, cloud, and model creation. Overall, there was much taken away from the project creation process.

What's next for Lorify

Hopefully, more API integration with Gemini like the Imagen and Veo models.
